ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Junior Emily Guerra (Yorktown, Va./Seton Hall) gave the Rams an early 1-0 lead, but it was not enough as Virginia Commonwealth University (3-12) fell to the University of Michigan (10-7) 5-1 Thursday afternoon at Ocker Field.
Guerra put VCU on the board at the 3:50 mark of the first period when she used a pass from sophomore forward Nikki Lloyd (Kent, England/Bromley) to beat the Wolverine goalie and tally her third goal of the season.
Michigan posted its first goal of the match at the 6:55 mark and the score remained tied until Kristen Tiner put the Wolverines up for good at the 29:24 mark of the first half.
Junior goalkeeper Brittany LoVullo (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville North) spent the entire match between the pipes and charted nine saves.
The Rams will take on Ohio State tomorrow at 3 p.m. in Ann Arbor.
