RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia Commonwealth University (1-10, 0-3) fell 3-0 to #17 James Madison University (7-5, 1-1) Sunday afternoon at Cary Street Field.

The two teams were locked in a defensive struggle during the first half with the lone goal coming on a penalty stroke by Melissa Walls of JMU.

During the second half the Dukes broke the game open with goals from Ashley Walls and Meghan Bain in a span of 6:08.

VCU received shots from senior Ashley Cadwallader (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) and sophomore Nikki Lloyd (Kent, England/Bromley).

Junior goalkeeper Brittany LoVullo (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville North) played the entire 70 minutes between the pipes and charted three saves.

The Rams return to action Friday October 6 when they host #3 Old Dominion at 6 p.m. at Cary Street Field.
