HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Junior Emily Guerra (Yorktown, Va./Seton Hall) scored her fifth goal of the season, but Virginia Commonwealth University (4-15, 2-6) fell 4-1 to Hofstra University (12-6, 5-3) in the Rams season finale Sunday at Shuart Stadium.
VCU allowed Hofstra an early advantage when Charlia Warner put back a rebound to give the Pride a 1-0 lead. At the 9:29 mark, Warner struck again giving HU a two-goal edge heading into the break.
The Rams were unable to find an answer for the sophomore forward in the second half either as Warner would score two more times before Guerra put VCU on the board.
The walk-on junior forward scored an unassisted, breakaway goal at the 65:32 mark, giving her five goals in the last seven contests for VCU.
At goalkeeper, junior BrittanyLoVullo (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville North) charted four saves in 43 minutes of action, while sophomore Laura Baker (Kent, England/Langley Park) tallied five saves in 27 minutes.
Today’s match was the final contest for seniors Amanda Kelly (Chesapeake, Va./ Great Bridge), Ashley Cadwallader (Farifax, Va./Fairfax) and Alyssa Collis (Kaleden, British Columbia/ Penticton Secondary).
