FARMVILLE, Va. – Junior Jenna Harris (Aurora, Colo./Smoky Hill) (pictured) netted a goal for the second straight match, but it was not enough as Virginia Commonwealth University (1-6) fell 3-2 to Longwood University (3-4) Sunday afternoon.

The Lancers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Kelsey Turner found the back of the net at the 2:20 mark of the first period.

Sophomore NikkiLloyd (Kent, England/Bromley) quickly answered when she posted her team-leading fourth goal of the season just 55 seconds later to pull the Rams even at 1-1.

Longwood responded to score two consecutive goals and take a 3-1 lead into the break.

Harris cut the lead in half at the 43:12 mark of the second period when she netted her third goal of the season. Freshman Rebecca Sullivan (Fredericksburg, Va./ Stafford) tallied her first collegiate assist on the play.

VCU was unable to score the game-tying goal despite out shooting Longwood 9-3 in the second period.

Junior goalkeeper Brittany LoVullo (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville North) posted three saves and did not allow a goal in 35 minutes of action.

The Rams return to action Friday, September 22 when they travel across town to take on the Richmond Spiders at 4 p.m.
