RICHMOND, Va. – Junior Jenna Harris (Aurora, Colo./Smoky Hill) scored two goals in the second half, but it was not enough as Virginia Commonwealth University (1-8, 0-1) fell to William & Mary (7-2, 1-0) 4-2 in its Colonial Athletic Association opener Sunday afternoon at Cary Street Field.

With the Rams down 0-2 early in the second half, sophomore Nikki Lloyd ( Kent, England/Bromley) sent a pass to Harris who redirected it into the back of the net and cut the Tribe lead in half.

After a penalty-corner goal which gave the Tribe a 3-1 lead, the duo of Lloyd and Harris struck again. Harris pulled the Rams closer at 3-2 when she netted her fifth goal of the season, while Lloyd picked up her fourth assist of the year.

VCU was unable to score the game-tying goal as William and Mary withstood a furious attack by the Rams. The Tribe would go on to add an insurance goal with 4:14 remaining in the match.

Junior goalkeeper Brittany LoVullo (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville North) tallied six saves for the second-consecutive match and did not allow a non-penalty corner goal.

The Rams return to action Friday, September 29 when the travel to face the Blue Hens of Delaware at 7 p.m. in Newark.
