MCQUADE NAMED INTERIM HEAD COACH
12-20-06
RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia Commonwealth University Director of Athletics Norwood Teague has announced that Kelly McQuade has been named interim head coach of the Rams’ field hockey program. McQuade takes over the reins after former head coach Shelly Behrens’ affiliation with the Rams concluded at the end of the 2006 season.
“I am very excited to have been given this opportunity,” explained McQuade. “These young women are hard workers with endless potential for success. I am looking forward to working with [Assistant Coach Nate Coolidge] to bring out the best in each of them!”
McQuade, a dual-sport student-athlete at William & Mary, recently completed her first year as an assistant coach at VCU. Prior to joining the Ram staff, she spent two years at her alma mater, assisting with both the field hockey and lacrosse programs. At W&M, McQuade was responsible for on-field coaching, recruiting, and video editing.
McQuade completed her outstanding college field hockey career during the 2003 season, earning first team All-Colonial Athletic Association and all-state honors, while also securing a spot on the All-South Region second team. A participant in the 2003 NFHCA North/South Senior All-Star game, McQuade finished second on her team in scoring with 12 goals and four assists for 28 points. The five game-winning goals she recorded led the Tribe and tied for the third-most in one season in school history. The two-year starter finished her career with 38 points on 16 goals and six assists.
McQuade was also a four-year letterwinner in lacrosse, starting every game for the Tribe during her last three seasons. She scored 21 goals and registered six assists as a senior, before finishing her career with 55 goals and 14 assists.
Prior to W&M, McQuade earned first team all-state and all-league honors at Central Bucks West High School in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Her team’s captain and most valuable player, she ended her prep career with 31 goals and 17 assists. McQuade also lettered in diving and lacrosse, having graduated as the school’s all-time leading goal scorer in that sport.
McQuade received her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and history from the College of William & Mary in 2004. LLOYD, OSINGA EARN CAA HONORS

RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia Commonwealth University sophomore Nikki Lloyd (Kent, England/Bromley) (pictured) earned second-team All Colonial Athletic Association honors and freshman Emilie Osinga (Aerdenhout, Netherlands/Stedelijk Gymnasium, Haarlem) was awarded a spot on the CAA All-Rookie team, the league office announced Friday.
Lloyd finished fifth in the CAA in points in 2006 with 24. The sophomore tallied nine goals and six assists, which ranked sixth and eighth in the league, respectively. Lloyd also finished in the top ten in points per game, goals per game and assists per game. The 5-4 forward’s season highlights included scoring multiple goals in conference victories over Towson and Drexel and posting multiple assists in a match against then seventeenth-ranked William & Mary. Lloyd has started 35 of 36 contests as a Ram.
Osinga started all 19 games as a freshman, posting four goals and two assists for a total of 10 points. The Netherlands native scored two goals in just her second collegiate match, a 7-3 VCU win over Monmouth. Osinga is majoring in pre-dentistry.
The all-conference squads were selected by the league’s head coaches. This is the first all conference team to which either player has been named.
