RAMS TIE FIFTH-RANKED MINNESOTA FOR THIRD AT LANDFALL TRADITION

Wilmington, N.C. – The Virginia Commonwealth University men’s golf team tied for third at the Landfall Tradition hosted by UNC Wilmington. The Rams tallied a final round 6-over par 294 (297+298+294=889), their lowest total of the tournament, to move into a four-way tie for third.
VCU finished with a flurry, carding six birdies on the final three holes to finish ahead of or tie nine teams with higher rankings. Texas A&M shot a final round 281 (294+295+281=870) to claim the team title.
Junior Jens Fahrbring (Sollentuna, Sweden/Rudbeckskolan) (pictured) fired a three-under par 69 (74+73+69=216) to finish tied for third in the individual standings, just five strokes behind medalist, Dustin Johnson (73+72+66=211) of Coastal Carolina. Junior Dustin Hussey (Ridgeway, Va./Magna Vista) carded a two-over par 74 (74+72+74=220), earning a tie for ninth position. Senior Manuel Relancio (Corrientes, Argentina/Instituto Modelo Jean Piaget) (75+76+73=224) used his lowest round of the tournament to earn his second best finish of the fall, a tie for 19th. Junior Daryl Chappell (Richmond, Va./Dinwiddie) (74+77+78) finished with a three-day total of 229, while freshman Casey Johnson, Jr. (Matthews, N.C./Rio Rancho) (85+82+83) posted a score of 250.
The Rams begin their spring schedule on March 2, in Winter Garden, Fl. at the Orange County National Xavier Intercollegiate.

RAMS FIFTH AFTER DAY TWO OF LANDFALL TRADITION

Wilmington, N.C. – Virginia Commonwealth University finished the second day of the Landfall Tradition still in 5th position Saturday afternoon. The Rams ended the second round with a 10-over par 298 (297+298=595), just six strokes behind leader, Texas A&M, who finished the day with a seven-over par 295 (294+295=589).
Junior Dustin Hussey (Ridgeway, Va./Magna Vista) (pictured) fired an even-par 72 (74+72=146) to move into a tie for seventh in the individual standings, four strokes behind the leader, Jerad Harklau, of Texas A&M. Junior Jens Fahrbring (Sollentuna, Sweden/Rudbeckskolan) carded a one-over par 73 (74+73=147), good enough to tie for tenth. Senior Manuel Relancio (Corrientes, Argentina/Instituto Modelo Jean Piaget) (75+76) and junior Daryl Chappell (Richmond, Va./Dinwiddie) (71+80) each ended the day with a total of 151. Freshman Casey Johnson, Jr. (Matthews, N.C./Rio Rancho) (85+82=167) carded a second round 82.

Wilmington, N.C. – Virginia Commonwealth University finished day one of the Landfall Tradition in fifth position Friday afternoon. The Rams ended the round with a 9-over par 297, just eight strokes behind leader, Tulsa, who finished the day with a one-over par 289.
Juniors Daryl Chappell (Richmond, Va./Dinwiddie),Dustin Hussey (Ridgeway, Va./Magna Vista), and Jens Fahrbring (Sollentuna, Sweden/Rudbeckskolan) each carded 2-over par 74s to pace the Rams. Senior Manuel Relancio (Corrientes, Argentina/Instituto Modelo Jean Piaget) shot an opening round 75, while freshman Casey Johnson, Jr. (Matthews, N.C./Rio Rancho) carded an 85.
