RAMS ELEVENTH AT MID PINES INTERCOLLEGIATE

Pinehurst, N.C. – Virginia Commonwealth University finished 11th out of 20 teams at the Mid Pines Intercollegiate golf tournament in Pinehurst, N.C.
The Rams were led by freshman Matthew Brookbanks (West Midlands, England/Solihull) who carded a one-under 215 (73-70-72) in his first collegiate tournament to tie for 21st, just nine strokes behind leader Chadd Cocco of St. Mary’s (Calif.). Junior Jens Fahrbring (Sollentuna, Sweden/Rudbeckskolan) (pictured) finished two strokes behind Brookbanks with a one-over par 271 (72-72-73). Junior Andrea Perrino (Livorno, Italy/Cecioni Scientific Lycee), who carded two eagles in the tournament, shot a 220 (76-73-71) to tie for 54th. Senior Manuel Relancio (Corrientes, Argentina/Instituto Modelo Jean Piaget) shot 74-76-72 for 222, which tied for 62nd. Sophomore Alex Brown (Richmond, Va./L.C. Byrd) tied for 78th with a score of 227 (75-74-78).
The Rams return to the links September 25-27, at the Adam’s Cup in Newport, Rhode Island.

Pinehurst, N.C. - Virginia Commonwealth University completed second round action at the Mid Pines Intercollegiate golf tournament in Pinhurst, N.C. on Monday. The Rams (294-289=583) stand in a three way tie for tenth with one round left to play in the twenty team tournament.
Freshman Matthew Brookbanks (West Midlands, England/Solihull) is VCU's low finisher and is currently tied for 16th at 143 (73-70). Just one stroke behind Brookbanks is junior Jens Fahrbring (Sollentuna, Sweden Rudbeckskolan) (pictured) at 144 (72-72). Fahrbring is second in the field in par 4 scoring, playing the holes at -3.
Final round action begins Tuesday at 8:15 a.m.
