Final Standings

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Junior Jens Fahrbring ( Sollentuna, Sweden/Rudbeckskolan) (73-74-75—222) and freshman Matt Brookbanks (West Midlands, England/Solihull) (75-74-73—222) both tied for thirteenth place in the individual standings at the University of Virginia’s Cavalier Classic.

Brookbanks posted a one-over par 73 on Sunday, the lowest of any Ram, to lead Virginia Commonwealth University (297-300-298—895) to a fourth-place finish in the team standings.

Sophomore Alex Brown ( Richmond, Va./ Belmont Abbey) (72-79-74—225) fired a final-round 74 to finish tied for 21 st, while senior Manuel Relancio ( Corrientes, Argentina/Instituto Modelo Jean Piaget) (81-73-76—230) ended his tournament tied for 30 th after posting a final-round 76. Sophomore William Thompson ( South Hill, Va./Park View) (77-81-78—236) cared a six-over par 78 in his final round.

This weekend’s tournament marked the end of the regular season schedule for VCU. The Rams await word on a possible at-large bid into the NCAA Regional Tournament, which will be held May 18-20 in Orlando, Florida.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Junior Jens Fahrbring (Sollentuna, Sweden/Rudbeckskolan) (73-74—147) (pictured) finished day one of the Cavalier Classic tied for ninth in the individual standings, just six stroke behind leader Blaine Peffley of the University of Maryland.

The Rams (297-300—597) are currently fourth in team standings out of ten teams.

Freshman Matt Brookbanks ( West Midlands, England/Solihull) (75-74—149) finished the day just two strokes behind Fahrbring, and is tied for 17 th. Sophomore Alex Brown ( Richmond, Va./ Belmont Abbey) (72-79—151) fired an even-par 72 in round one to post the lowest score of the day for VCU.

Senior Manuel Relancio (Corrientes, Argentina/Instituto Modelo Jean Piaget) (81-73—154) shot a one-over par 73 in round two to rebound from an opening-round 81, while sophomore William Thompson (South Hill, Va./Park View) (77-81) finished the day with a score of 158.

The Rams begin their final round Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m.
