RAMS TIE FOR SIXTH AT BRIDGESTONE INTERCOLLEGIATE

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Virginia Commonwealth University golf team posted a second-round 298 to finish sixth at the Bridgestone Golf Intercollegiate, which was shortened to 36 holes due to inclement weather on Monday.

VCU (301-298—599) was the only team in the field to improve on its day one total, but it was not enough to catch Lamar University (281-282—563) which claimed victory after consecutive sub-par rounds.

The annual event was held at Forest Oaks Country Club, home of the PGA Tour’s Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic. Collegians played the same course setup as a Friday and Sunday round on tour.

Juniors Daryl Chappell ( Dinwiddie, Va./Dinwiddie) (73-73—146) and Andrea Perrino ( Livorno, Italy/Cecioni Scientific Lycee) (73-73—146) (pictured) each finished tied for 10 th-place in the individual standings after posting back-to-back rounds of 73.

Junior Jens Fahbring ( Sollentuna, Sweden/Rudbeckskolan) (77-73—150) also shot a round-two 73, which tied him for 21 st. Senior Manuel Relancio ( Corrientes, Argentina/Instituto Modelo Jean Piaget) (78-79) finished with a total of 157, while junior Dustin Hussey ( Ridgeway, Va./Magna Vista) (81-82) posted a total score of 163.

The Rams return to action April 13-16 for the Colonial Athletic Association championship which will be held in Pinehurst, N.C.
