GEORGE NAMED FIRST TEAM ALL-CAA

RICHMOND, Va. – For the second consecutive year, Virginia Commonwealth University senior forward Nick George (Manchester, England/Montrose Christian) has been named First Team All-Colonial Athletic Association, in voting by the coaches, sports information directors and members of the media.
George is the only Ram to start all 27 games this season. He leads the Rams and is fifth in the CAA in scoring with 16.7 points per game. George has scored in double figures 22 times this season, including 19 of the past 22 contests. George is also the top three-point shooter in the conference, hitting 47% of his attempts from beyond the arc. He is the only player in the CAA to be ranked among the league leaders in scoring (16.7 ppg), rebounding (4.9 rpg), field goal percentage (.470), three-point percentage (.471) and made three-pointers (1.78 per game).
A four-year starter for the Rams, George has scored 1,506 career points, placing him ninth on VCU’s career scoring list. He is ninth in career rebounds with 688, fourth in career three-point percentage at.415, fifth in career free throws with 327, tenth in career steals with 110 and ninth in career double-doubles with 13. He is the only player in VCU history to be in the Top Ten in all those categories.
George was named Second Team All-District earlier this season after being First Team All-District a year ago.
Under fourth-year head coach Jeff Capel, VCU is 18-9 overall and 11-7 in the CAA. The sixth-seeded Rams will face No. 11 William & Mary in the first round of the CAA Tournament on Friday, March 3, at 8:30 p.m. in the Richmond Coliseum. The winner will meet No. 3 Hofstra in the quarterfinals on Saturday, March 4, at 8:30 p.m. in the Richmond Coliseum.
