GEORGE NAMED SECOND TEAM ALL-DISTRICT

RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia Commonwealth University senior forward Nick George (Manchester, England/Montrose Christian) has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division I All-District Second Team, in voting by the member coaches of the NABC.

George leads the Rams and is fourth in the Colonial Athletic Association in scoring with 17.0 points per game. George is also the top three-point shooter in the conference, hitting 48% of his attempts from beyond the arc. He is the only player in the CAA to be ranked among the league leaders in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, steals, three-point percentage and made three-pointers.

A four-year starter for the Rams, George has scored 1,479 career points, placing him ninth on VCU’s career scoring list. He is ninth in career rebounds with 680, fourth in career three-point percentage at.419, fifth in career free throws with 320, tenth in career steals with 110 and ninth in career double-doubles with 13. He is the only player in VCU history to be in the Top Ten in all those categories.

George was First Team All-District as a junior.

Under fourth-year head coach Jeff Capel, VCU is 17-8 overall and 10-6 in the CAA. The Rams have their final home game of the regular season on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 7:30 p.m. against UNC Wilmington in the Alltel Pavilion at the Stuart C. Siegel Center. VCU concludes the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 2 p.m. at William & Mary.
