RAMS TO HOST SPIDERS IN LOCATION SWITCH
9-8-05

Virginia Commonwealth University will play host to the University of Richmond in men’s basketball on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005, at 7:30 p.m. at the Alltel Pavilion at the Stuart C. Siegel Center.

The game was originally scheduled for the Robins Center, but the Spiders were heavy with home games and wished to switch one of their home games to the road. VCU and Richmond will meet at the Robins Center next season.

The Rams, under fourth-year head coach Jeff Capel, will have 14 home games, including nine Colonial Athletic Association contests at the Alltel Pavilion at the Stuart C. Siegel Center. VCU will have a home game on Saturday, Feb. 18, as part of ESPN Bracket Buster. The Rams will also entertain College of Charleston, Elon and Longwood, along with Richmond.

The Rams were 19-13 a season ago and earned a bid to the National Invitation Tournament. VCU enjoyed post-season play for the second consecutive year. The Rams were 13-5 in the CAA and finished second in the league. VCU reached the championship game of the CAA Tournament and fell in overtime to top-seeded Old Dominion.
