One of the top point guards in college basketball, Taylor was selected as a member of the preseason all-Colonial Athletic Association team as voted on by the coaches... Enjoyed a spectacular sophomore season in which he became the first player in CAA history to lead the conference in both assists and three-point field goal percentage in the same season... Has a tremendous talent for finding the open man off a drive to the basket... Is the xth leading returning assist man from the 1998-99 season... Durable as well as reliable, has the stamina necessary to keep his intensity level high for the entire length of the game... One of the most accurate shooters in the country... His quickness makes him both tough to defend and difficult to score on... Has a knack for hitting shots at key moments... Has 25 double-digit scoring games, five double-digit assist games and three double-doubles in his collegiate career.

1998-99: Named to the CAA all-tournament team and all-state second team by the Richmond Times Dispatch and the Virginia Association of Sports Information Directors... Was twice selected as the CAA player of the Week (Dec. 21 and Feb. 1), one of only three players to win the award more than once... One of five Virginia Commonwealth players to see action in all 31 games, averaging a team-high 31.8 minutes per game... Started 20 contests, including the final 19 of the season... Led the Rams and the CAA with 6.3 assists per game to rank 16th nationally and second nationally among underclassmen... His 194 assists rank second on Virginia Commonwealth's single-season charts behind Keith Highsmith's 197 dishes in 1974-75... Led Virginia Commonwealth and the conference by connecting on 44.4 percent of his three-point field goal attempts to rank 23rd nationally and eighth among underclassmen... His percentage from beyond the arc placed him third In Virginia Commonwealth school history behind Patrick Lee and Rolando Lamb... 1997-98: Overcame knee injury to be named to the CAA all-rookie team... Appeared in 20 games after missing the first eight games due his injury... Averaged 8.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game... His points per game average was third-highest on the team... Recorded a season-high 22 points against William & Mary (Feb. 23)... Registered multiple steals in six of seven games from Jan. 22 to Feb. 7, including four vs. Richmond (Jan. 24)... Taylor's play stepped up a level as the conference season entered its home stretch, as he scored 94 points over the final eight games of the year, an average of 11.8 per game... He also racked up 49 assists over that span (6.13 per game)... Chalked up 25 steals in 16 games, tying him for fourth in conference play in steals per game with 1.88... Recorded 10 assists while adding six points and four rebounds at George Mason (Feb. 7)... Ranked third on the conference games chart in assists, with a 4.88 average... Was team's third-leading scorer over the course of the CAA season, averaging 8.8 points per game... Had six double-figure scoring games... Saw significant time on the floor once he recuperated from his injury, averaging 30.3 minutes per game... Connected on 3-of-5 three-point field goal attempts en route to a 15-point performance in the CAA tournament against North Carolina-Wilmington (Feb. 27).

PERSONAL: A product of John Marshall High School in Richmond, where he lettered four years for head coach Frank Threatts... As a senior at John Marshall, he averaged 23.7 points, seven assists, four rebounds and four steals per game... Helped lead Marshall to a 28-1 record and a high ranking of 11th nationally by USA Today... Named first team all-state (Class AAA) by the Associated Press and the Richmond Times-Dispatch... Named the 1996-97 Richmond Times-Dispatch player of the year and the central region player of the year, while earning first team all-metropolitan accolades... Scored a career-high 41 points while topping 30+ points three times and scoring in double-figures in all 29 games... Listed as a high school honorable mention All-American by Street & Smith's Basketball magazine entering his senior season... Earned second team all-metropolitan honors as a junior, averaging 12.0 points and 6.0 assists per game.... Named most valuable player of the state all-star game as a senior... Was the point guard on the Richmond Metro AAU 17-and-under team that advanced to the national final during the summer of 1995... Also the point guard on the AAU 17-and-under and 19-and-under teams that won state titles during the spring of 1996... Son of Michelle Johnson and Warren Taylor.
