RAMS CLINCH BERTH IN CAA TOURNAMENT

RICHMOND, Va. - With a win and a tie over the weekend, Virginia Commonwealth University has assured itself of one of six spots in the 2005 Colonial Athletic Association Tournament.

The Rams are currently in fourth place in the CAA standings with 15 points. VCU has two conference matches remaining. The Rams travel to UNC Wilmington on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. match. The Seahawks are in fifth place in the CAA, one point behind the Rams. VCU concludes the regular season with a 7 p.m. contest at James Madison on Saturday. The Dukes are currently in third place, four points ahead of VCU.

VCU can finish anywhere from second to sixth in the conference standings.

The top two seeds earn first-round byes in the CAA Tournament. Nationally-ranked Old Dominion has secured the No. 1 seed and will host the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 11, and the finals on Sunday, Nov. 13. Hofstra currently holds second place.

The quarterfinals are held on campus sites on Tuesday, Nov. 8. The No. 6 seed will play at the No. 3 seed in one quarterfinal match, while the No. 5 seed will play at the No. 4 seed in the second quarterfinal contest.
