NEWARK, Del. – Freshman forward Forsan Asad-Radwan (Assan, Jordan) scored the go-ahead goal in the 58th minute, the first of his collegiate career, and junior midfielder Matthijs Maruanaya (Alkmaar, Netherlands) (pictured) added an insurance goal in the 65th minute as Virginia Commonwealth University earned a 3-2 Colonial Athletic Association victory Friday evening at Delaware.

The Rams (4-6-0, 2-1-0 CAA) held an 8-6 advantage in shots, including 5-3 in shots on goal. The Blue Hens dropped to 3-3-2 overall, 1-2-0 in the CAA.

Matt Laudeman got the home team on the board in the 28th minute on a drive from 20 yards out.

Junior Pat Viray (Reston, Va.) knotted the score at 1-1 in the 31st minute on a turnaround shot from 10 yards out. It was his third goal of the fall.

Playing in his first match of the season, Asad-Radwan finished from 15 yards out, putting the ball just under the crossbar. Senior Evan Morris (Springfield, Va.) earned the assist as VCU took a 2-1 lead. Maruanaya found the back of the net to give the Rams a 3-1 edge. Sobhan Tadjalli added a goal for Delaware in the 69th minute to narrow the margin to one at 3-2.

Sophomore Andrew Dykstra (Woodbridge, Va.) had one save for the Rams. Taylor Thames notched two saves for the Hens.
