ANN ARBOR, Mich. – No. 19 Virginia Commonwealth University had 12 shots, including seven shots on goal, but could not find the back of the net as the Rams fell to No. 20 Michigan State 1-0 Friday evening in the first round of the University of Michigan Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The Rams (2-2-0) had six shots on goal in the second half. Sophomore Owusu Sekyere (Suame-Kumasi, Ghana) led VCU with four total shots, including two shots on goal. Junior Pat Viray (Reston, Va.) (pictured) had three shots, with two on goal.

The Spartans (4-1-0) got their lone goal in the 34th minute as Kenzo Webster put a loose ball into the net. MSU had 13 shots, with five shots on goal.
