VCU WOMEN 12TH IN FINAL ITA POLL, MEN SLOTTED 14TH
Finish is Women’s Second Highest in Program History

RICHMOND, Va. – The Virginia Commonwealth University Men’s and Women’s Tennis Teams earned Top-15 spots in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll following stellar seasons for both squads.

The VCU women finished 12th in the poll, which comes on the heels of a 29-1 season that concluded with a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament. It is the second best final ranking for a Rams’ team and the highest since 2003, when they earned the No. 9 spot.

There is reason for future optimism as well, as head coach Paul Kostin’s squad will not lose a single player to graduation.

On the men’s side, VCU concluded the year at No. 14, its best final ranking since 2000, when The Black and Gold were a national finalist and drew the No. 9 slot. This season the Rams fashioned a 26-5 mark, including a 16-match win streak, and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Additionally, VCU lists just one senior among it’s eight regulars.
