LECLOREC NETS CAA HONOR, RAMS MOVE UP TO NO. 13
4-5-06

RICHMOND, Va. – One week after his clutch victory gave Virginia Commonwealth University a win over No. 4 Duke, junior Arnaud Lecloerec (Plouhinec, France) (pictured) has been named the Colonial Athletic Association’s Player of the Week.

It was Lecloerec who snapped a 3-3 tie with the Blue Devils on March 29 with his thrilling, 6-7 (4), 6-3, 7-6 (3), win over No. 5 Ludovic Walter at first singles.

The victory helped VCU to ascend to No. 13 in this week’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Poll, up from the No. 15 spot. Lecloerec also moved from No. 21 nationally to No. 15 this week in the singles rankings.

Lecloerec, 21-7 this year, is the second Ram to earn the award this season, joining senior Francesc Lleal (Barcelona, Spain), who was cited for the week ending March 20.

VCU (18-4) returns to the hard courts on Friday, April 7 when it heads to Tampa, Fla. for a 2 p.m. match with South Florida.
