Andrea Fischer returns for her fifth season as Rams’ assistant coach and second under head coach James Finley. Fischer will continue to assist in all aspects of daily operations, including student-athlete recruitment, organizing team travel and facilitating practices.
In addition to working at VCU, Fischer serves as a co-head coach of a girls’ National Team at Richmond Volleyball Club. At RVC, she has guided her teams to Old Dominion Region Championships in 2003 and 2004, twice earning bids to represent the region at the USA Volleyball Junior Olympics.
Fischer also coaches at several camps in the area, including those hosted by RVC, VCU and the University of Virginia, where she starred for four years as an outside hitter from 1997-2001. The former Cavalier left UVA as the school record-holder for career service aces (154) and aces in a match (7), and was one of only seven players in school history to reach 1,000 kills. She was named the team’s Most Valuable Player as a senior in 2001 and was selected to the ACC All-Rookie Team in 1997.
Fischer is a current member of RVC and most recently played on the adult women’s team that reached the USA Adult National Championships in Denver this past spring.
A native of Santa Barbara, Calif., Fischer graduated from UVA in 2002 with a B.A. in Philosophy.
