After splitting the first two games, VCU narrowly missed on a chance to take a 2-1 lead. Sophomore Elisa Kuehnel’s (Dresden, Germany) kill late in the game gave the Rams a 29-26 edge, but Northeastern survived three straight VCU match points to record the win.

The Rams fell victim to a kill by NU’s Kim Batura, a VCU attack error and a kill by DeTurk on consecutive plays to tie the score at 29-29. DeTurk followed with another kill on the next play, and a ball-handling error on the Rams ended the game at 31-29.

Northeastern hit .222 in the deciding fourth game, compared to VCU’s .083 as the Huskies claimed a 30-24 win.
