LONG BEACH, Calif. – Virginia Commonwealth University sophomore setter Cat Juson (Long Beach, Calif.) (pictured) recorded a total of 77 assists in two matches, establishing a new school single-season record, when the Rams dropped a pair of contests, 3-0 to Western Michigan and 3-1 to UC Irvine Saturday at the Long Beach Invitational.

Juson set the record in VCU’s first match of the day, handing out 32 assists in a 3-0 (30-26, 30-22, 30-28) loss to WMU. She surpassed Suzanne Dawson’s mark of 1,314 assists, established in 1995.

Senior Ludmila Francescatto (Fraiburga, Brazil), who a day earlier shattered the Rams’ single-season kills mark, added 12 against the Broncos.

Juson piled on 45 more assists against UC Irvine, which downed VCU, 3-1 (26-30, 31-29, 30-24, 30-22). Juson, concludes her season with 1,390 helpers.

Francescatto had 16 kills against the Anteaters, while Rams’ sophomore Elisa Kuehnel (Dresden, Germany) led VCU (16-18) with 18 kills.
