PROVO, UTAH – Senior middle blocker Melissa Peterson (Ganado, Ariz./ Arizona Western College) had seven kills, three blocks and hit .500 for Virginia Commonwealth University in a 3-0 loss, 30-22, 30-21, 30-21 to BYU Saturday night at the Molten Classic.

VCU slips to 3-3 with the loss. The Cougars, listed 26 th in the AVCA Coaches Preseason Poll, are 6-0.

Also for the Rams, senior outside hitter Ludmila Francescatto (Fraiburga, Brazil/ Arizona Western College) had 10 kills, while senior middle blocker Renata Salvatori (Londrina, Brazil/ Arizona Western College) and sophomore outside hitter Ana Luiza Bernardes de Borja (Florianopolis, Brazil/Colegio Geracao) added nine and eight kills, respectively.

Erica Lott led all players with 13 kills and 10 blocks for BYU while Amy Schlauder dished out 39 assists for the Cougars.

VCU returns to the floor on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. when it hosts Hampton at the Alltel Pavilion at the Stuart C. Siegel Center.
