NORFOLK, Va. – Three Virginia Commonwealth University players scored in double figures, but the Rams fell to Old Dominion, 84-62, Thursday at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.

The Rams slip to 10-8 on the season, 3-5 in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Lady Monarchs move to 11-7, 7-0 in the CAA.

VCU was led by sophomore Quanitra Hollingsworth (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge), who recorded her fourth double-double of the season and the 18 th in her career with 10 points and 10 rebounds.She moves into a tie with Niamh Darcy for fourth place on VCU’s all-time double-double list. Michele Cosel (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) added 14 points and tied a career-high with eight rebounds, and Lakea Jones (Fort Washington, Md./National Christian Academy) kicked 11 points, including 10 in the second half, and five assists.

T.J. Jordan sparked the Lady Monarchs with 20 points, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range. Sherida Triggs added 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The Rams played ODU tight in the first half, taking an 18-15 lead on a traditional three-point play by freshman forward D’Andra Moss (Atlanta, Ga./Norcross) with 10:11 remaining. It was a back-and-forth first half, featuring seven lead changes. Cosel had eight points in the first half, shooting 2-of-3 from beyond the arc.

VCU led 27-25 with 1:59 remaining in the first half before ODU closed the period with an 8-0 run to take a 33-27 lead into the locker room. The Monarchs picked up where they left off in the second half, extending their lead to 45-30. The Rams went eight minutes without a field goal during the 20-3 run.

Old Dominion owned a 51-38 advantage on the boards, including 25 on the offensive end, which translated into 25 second-chance points. The Lady Monarchs also forced the Rams into 27 turnovers, which led to 30 points.

The Black and Gold return to action on Sunday, Jan. 28 when they host CAA-rival Towson at 2 p.m. at the Alltel Pavilion at the Stuart C. Siegel Center.
