THIRD ANNUAL NICOLE MEGALOUDIS 5K RUN/WALK SET FOR APRIL 1ST
Event looks to allow Nicole's memory to live on

RICHMOND, Va. – In February of 2004, tragedy struck the VCU athletics family when freshman Nicole Megaloudis of the Rams’ women’s soccer team was killed in a car accident. The loss saddened the VCU family greatly, but also inspired many to keep Nicole’s spirit alive and well.

Her memory lives on in the VCU women’s soccer program as the Black and Gold teamed with the Nicole Megaloudis Foundation has set its third annual Nicole Megaloudis 5k run/walk for April 1, 2007. The event, which has helped many student-athletes around the world, will kick off at 1:00 p.m. at Byrd Park.

The Nicole Megaloudis Foundation was established to assist students who plan on continuing their athletic endeavors at the collegiate level, who demonstrate leadership qualities and have some degree of financial need. In addition to scholarships, the Foundation hopes to make Nicole’s dream of helping children in other parts of the world, become a reality. Its mission is to help students realize their dreams and to allow Nicole’s memory to live on.
